3G IPhone Long Term Costs

So the IPhone hits the market on July 11th, and Paul Thurrott gives us a great explanation of how much it will really cost after the two year required contract extension and the minimum 200$:

I will break it down as he has:

Cheapest model (8 GB) with lowest service plan (service plans are all raised ten dollars a month now for data services):

2120$

Before: 2280$, a savings of 160$

So even if you get the 16 GB model for 299$, you will still save 60$ over a span of two years compared to what Iphone patrons are paying now.

While the Iphone is definitely showing that Apple is still the leader when it comes to presenting your basic consumers what they want, remember that the Blackberry is still the leading smart phone on the market today with about 50% saturation, due to heavy business use.
